September is shaping up to be a busy month at the Paramount Theatre, with new releases, cult classics, live theatre on screen and special events all on the schedule.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up at the downtown Kamloops theatre.

New Releases

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

Thursday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, September 4 at 7:45 p.m.
Saturday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

This 2026 horror-comedy from director Jane Schoenbrun stars Hannah Einbinder, Gillian Anderson, Jack Haven and Patrick Fischler.

The story follows a young filmmaker hired to revive a fading slasher franchise who seeks out the mysterious, reclusive star of the original film.

I Want Your Sex

Olivia Wilde, Cooper Hoffman and Charli XCX star in this dark comedy and erotic thriller.

The film follows Elliot, who lands a job working for renowned artist Erika Tracy and is pulled into an increasingly complicated world of obsession, power, betrayal and murder.

Directed by Matt Johnson and starring Dominic Sessa, Tony follows a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain as he travels to Provincetown and finds himself immersed in the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen.

The experience becomes a formative summer in the life of the future chef, author and television personality.

SIX: The Musical Comes to the Big Screen

Following a strong turnout for Hadestown, the Paramount is bringing another major stage production to Kamloops.

SIX: The Musical Live! was filmed at London’s Vaudeville Theatre and features the original West End cast.

The musical reimagines the stories of Henry VIII’s six wives as a high-energy pop concert, giving Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr a chance to tell their own stories.

There will be three screenings:

• Sunday, September 6 at 2 p.m.
• Saturday, September 12 at 2:30 p.m.
• Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Wes Anderson’s stop-motion adaptation of Fantastic Mr. Fox returns to the Paramount for three September screenings.

Mr. Fox’s decision to raid three local farmers puts his family and community in danger when the farmers decide to fight back.

The Big Lebowski

Friday, September 11 at 7:15 p.m.

The Dude is coming back to the big screen.

The cult comedy follows Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski after he is mistaken for a millionaire with the same name and dragged into an increasingly bizarre series of events.

The September 11 screening will also feature curated canapés and cocktails by twelvefifty, with cocktails available for purchase.

National Theatre Live: The Playboy of the Western World

Friday, September 11 at 7 p.m.

The Paramount will present a National Theatre Live screening of The Playboy of the Western World.

The story follows Pegeen Flaherty, whose life is disrupted when a young man enters her pub claiming to have killed his father. Rather than being rejected, he becomes a local celebrity — until another man suddenly arrives.

Mad Max Double Feature with KamCon

Fans of post-apocalyptic cinema can spend September 12 with Max Rockatansky.

The Paramount is presenting two Mad Max films in partnership with KamCon.

Mad Max

Saturday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m.

The original film follows a police officer attempting to stop a violent motorcycle gang terrorizing the roads of a near-future Australia.

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

Saturday, September 12 at 8:30 p.m.

The second film sends Max into the post-apocalyptic Australian Outback, where a small settlement holding a valuable supply of fuel is under siege by a gang led by Lord Humungus.

The two screenings make for a ready-made Mad Max double feature.

Candlelight Concerts Coming to the Paramount

Movies aren’t the only thing coming to the Paramount.

Fever’s Candlelight concert series will bring live music to the theatre, performed in an atmosphere illuminated by candlelight.
