BACK ON THE ICE, BACK IN THE COMMUNITY: BLAZERS ANNOUNCE 2026-27 COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

From Kids Nights and the Teddy Bear Toss to Military Appreciation and First Responders Night, the Blazers are once again bringing Kamloops together at Sandman Centre this season.

The Kamloops Blazers are back on the ice, and back in the community.

As the Blazers prepare for another season at Sandman Centre, the club is announcing a slate of community initiatives, affordable ticket options and special game nights designed to give fans more chances to experience Blazers hockey.

The Blazers’ promotional schedule for the first half of the 2026-27 season is now available, featuring some of the most anticipated nights on the calendar.

For the Blazers, being part of the community means more than what happens when the puck drops.

Bringing community to the rink

Through the Community Commitment Program, local groups will have the opportunity to attend Blazers games thanks to the support of community-minded business partners.

Eleven partners are sponsoring between one and three games throughout the season, while Kelson Group and Middleton Energy Services are supporting each game included in the program.

The invested community partners provide tickets for local groups to attend and this season’s Community Commitment games include:

• September 19: Home Opener
• October 23: KMHA Night
• November 6: Military Appreciation Night
• November 28: First Responders Night
• December 4: Teddy Bear Toss Night
• January 23, 2027: KMHA Night
• February 15, 2027: Family Day

The other 11 partners supporting the program include BC Wildlife Park, Canadian Tire, Canruss Medical & Safety, Jen-Col Construction, Kamloops Orthodontics, Pashco Blasting, River City Nissan, Sarah’s Independent Grocer, Scoopz Kamloops, Valley First and Experience 50+ Living.

“We are fortunate to have business leaders in Kamloops who understand that being a Blazers partner is about more than a logo,” said Blazers president Norm Daley.

A ticket to every home game for local charity

The Blazers’ partnership with BCLC will continue this season, as BCLC provides 20 tickets for a local non-profit or charity to attend every Blazers home game.

That means every home game this season will provide another opportunity for local organizations to bring people together at Sandman Centre.

More ways to bring the family

For families looking to make Blazers games part of their regular routine, there are several affordable options to get through the doors.

Kids Nights return on October 3, October 9 and October 12. Children age 12 and under receive a free ticket with the purchase of an adult or senior ticket, (season-tickets included).

Season-ticket holders can also bring a friend to the rink on Wednesday, October 7, using the Bring a Buddy voucher available in their account.

And there’s more reason to make Wednesday nights part of the hockey calendar.

Win Wednesday. Come back Wednesday.

Beginning October 7, Winning Wednesday gives fans an extra incentive to cheer for the Blazers.

Fans who purchase a ticket to a Wednesday game can, if the Blazers win, use that to purchase a ticket to the following Wednesday’s home game for $15 plus fees.

It’s one more reason to stay until the final buzzer.

Students, staff and alumni at Thompson Rivers University can also take advantage of discounted tickets by presenting their TRU card at the Blazers Box Office.

Back in the community

The Blazers’ community commitment extends beyond the Sandman Centre.

Fans will have a chance to interact with Blazers players and staff throughout the city this season at community events, school visits and minor hockey activities.

The team will also take part in the annual Terry Fox Run, continuing a tradition of supporting Terry’s legacy and the fight against cancer.

“Being a Blazer means being part of Kamloops,” said Daley. “We want our players to experience the community, and we also want the community to experience its team.”

The Blazers open the regular season at Sandman Centre on September 19 against the Victoria Royals. Single game tickets and season tickets are available now.
