Drivers are advised that Highway 4 near Cameron Lake on Vancouver Island will be fully closed between Chalet Road and the Port Alberni summit on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The closure is necessary so crews can complete seasonal and additional maintenance work at Cameron Bluffs.
During the closure, crews will safely complete maintenance work within the rockfall mitigation area, address surface and erosion issues, and remove dead and damaged trees before more challenging fall and winter weather conditions arrive. Completing this work now will help maintain reliable travel through the corridor during the fall and winter months.
Emergency services have been notified of the closure and protocols are in place to accommodate emergency access.
