Green Party of Canada congratulates its candidates following federal by-elections as support grows – Green Party Of Canada

The Green Party of Canada congratulates Shelley Luce in North Vancouver—Capilano, Bruce Livesey in Beaches—East York and Nathe Perrone in Chicoutimi—Le Fjord following Monday’s federal by-elections, and recognizes the tremendous effort behind all three campaigns. Supporters spent weeks knocking on doors, making phone calls and speaking with voters to ensure Canadians had a strong Green choice on the ballot.

Even in a summer dominated by trade talks with Donald Trump, giving the Liberals a notable boost through their “Building Canada Strong” narrative, Canadians in North Vancouver—Capilano came out to demand better for their future by supporting Shelley Luce.

Green support in the riding rose from 1.7% in the 2025 federal election to 8.7%, a 412% increase in vote share from the previous election. The Greens were also the only returning party in North Vancouver—Capilano to increase its share of the vote, finishing third ahead of the NDP.

The gains mark an encouraging trajectory for the Green Party following the 2025 election and show how far the Party has come. Greens are back in communities across the country, recruiting strong candidates, mounting serious campaigns and making real gains at the ballot box. That progress is showing Canadians that Greens are a strong progressive choice, and the Party intends to keep building that momentum.

“I am so very proud of Shelley, Bruce and Nathe and of what these campaigns achieved,” said Green Party Leader Elizabeth May. “This summer made clear why Green voices matter. While Trump’s threats and trade talks consumed so much of the political conversation, our candidates kept attention on the climate crisis, emergency preparedness and the future of their communities. Shelley’s strong third-place finish in North Vancouver—Capilano shows that those priorities resonate with Canadians. These campaigns gave voters a positive reason to choose Green, and I am tremendously encouraged by what we are building.”

The Green Party of Canada will build on these gains as it continues to grow its support across the country.
