Residents Invited to Connect, Contribute, and Skate at Have Your Say Day
The City of Kamloops is introducing Have Your Say Day, a new community engagement event that makes it easier for residents to learn about City projects, connect with staff, and help shape the community’s future.
The new drop-in-style event brings current and upcoming City projects, programs, and services together in one location. Attendees can explore initiatives at their own pace, ask questions, learn how projects may affect them, and provide input on work that is actively seeking feedback.

November’s event will feature opportunities to learn about and comment on the Residential Parking Program, Reimagine Downtown!, Accessibility Plan update, Westsyde Pool and Fitness Centre recreation conversation, Budget 2027, Build Kamloops, capital projects, drought response, solid waste and recycling, sustainability, recruitment, and other City programs and services.
“Have Your Say Day is about creating a convenient and welcoming opportunity for residents to engage with the City,” said Kristen Rodrigue, the City’s Communications and Strategic Partnership Director. “By bringing multiple projects and services together in one place, we’re hopeful residents feel it is a more convenient way to learn about City initiatives, talk directly with staff, and share their local knowledge and lived experience to contribute to City decisions.”
Each event will focus on one key project and offer a closer look at it. November’s spotlight project will focus on the Residential Parking Program related to residential streets in Valleyview, Downtown, and the Tranquille Market Corridor. Whether you live, work, visit, operate a business, or require accessible parking in these areas, your feedback will help the City understand current needs and the priorities and trade-offs that should guide potential program updates.
Presentations will take place in the On Side Restoration Lounge at Sandman Centre at 12:00 pm for Downtown, 1:00 pm for the North Shore, and 2:00 pm for Valleyview. City staff and project team members will also be available throughout the event for one-on-one conversations.
Attendees can skate for free by collecting at least two stamps in an event passport. One person or one family can use each passport. A small amount of skate equipment will be available to borrow. Children aged 13 and under must bring and wear a helmet, and children aged seven and under must be accompanied on the ice by an adult wearing skates.
Have Your Say Day reflects the City’s commitment to improving awareness of City projects and creating more accessible opportunities for public participation.
The event was developed in response to residents sharing that multiple engagement opportunities occur throughout the year with schedules that do not align, and they may not know where to start or how projects connect to one another. By bringing projects together in a single, centralized event, the City aims to increase participation, improve awareness, and help reduce engagement fatigue.
Planned as an ongoing series, Have Your Say Day is expected to be held three times a year, aligning with key project milestones and engagement opportunities throughout the year. Each event will feature a unique mix of topics, allowing residents to stay informed and engaged as City initiatives evolve.
Whether residents are interested in a current project or simply want to learn more about the work happening across the community, Have Your Say Day offers an opportunity to explore, ask questions, and connect with the people behind City services and projects.
