YMCA BC Lists Free Youth Wellness Programs in Kamloops

Community services notice: This item is based on a submitted YMCA BC release and the organization’s current program listings.

YMCA BC lists three free youth wellness programs with Kamloops connections, but its current webpages do not post fall 2026 session dates, available spaces or registration deadlines.

Growing Mindfully is listed as a free, eight-week, in-person program for youth ages eight to 12. YMCA BC lists Kamloops among the program locations. Sessions run once a week, according to the organization.

No diagnosis or YMCA membership is required. Families seeking session dates or registration information are directed to email [email protected] or call 250-376-4771, extension 122.

YMCA BC also lists Y Mind Teen for B.C. residents ages 13 to 18 experiencing stress or mild to moderate anxiety. The free, seven-week program requires about 1.5 hours one evening each week. John Tod Centre Y in Kamloops is listed as an in-person Interior location, while online sessions may be available depending on location.

For people ages 18 to 30, Y Mind Youth is listed as a free seven-week program requiring about 2.5 hours one evening per week. John Tod Centre Y is also listed as an in-person Kamloops location, and virtual sessions are offered periodically across B.C.

Neither Y Mind program requires a referral, diagnosis or YMCA membership, according to the organization. YMCA BC describes Y Mind as group-based psycho-educational support rather than clinical therapy. People interested in either program are asked to register for information about upcoming information sessions, cohort dates and whether a session will be online or in person.

The broader YMCA BC program list includes services that are not listed for Kamloops. Back on Track, for youth ages 12 to 17, is currently listed in Prince George and Abbotsford. It requires a school referral and parent or guardian consent.

Beyond the Bell is a free program for 40 school-identified students at Glenview Elementary School in Prince George. Youth Employment Bootcamp is listed at the Robert Lee YMCA in downtown Vancouver for eligible youth ages 15 to 30 who are legally entitled to work in Canada, unemployed or underemployed, seeking work and not enrolled in full-time studies.

YMCA BC also lists School Age Child Care for children ages five to 12. Unlike the wellness programs, fees apply, although the organization says financial assistance is available.

The organization’s webpages establish that Kamloops is among the listed locations for Growing Mindfully and Y Mind programming, but they do not confirm whether local fall cohorts are currently open or scheduled.
