Kamloops’ own embodied carbon tool
In the construction industry, “embodied carbon” is the amount of carbon emissions required to complete a new building or renovation including the emissions involved in making the building materials used. Some building materials, such as concrete, can be verrry carbon-intensive. But thankfully now low-carbon versions (including concrete) or alternative materials with equal quality and similar price are available, and in Kamloops too!
The City of Kamloops has created a useful Embodied Carbon Tool that describes the costs and benefits of various options. Please check it out and let others know about it – “read before you build”
