Kamloops School of the Arts

Kamloops School of the Arts is a public Kindergarten-to-Grade 12 school operated by School District 73 at 1390 9th Avenue in Kamloops. It is a school of choice serving students from across the Kamloops-Thompson region, with an educational program that combines the provincial curriculum with arts-driven learning.

The school integrates dance, drama, music, visual arts and other creative practices into classroom learning, while also providing dedicated opportunities for students to develop artistic skills. Its teaching approach emphasizes academic achievement, creativity, critical thinking, student interests and connections with professional artists and community partners.

The building was formerly associated with John Peterson Secondary School and was used as the secondary site of the former Beattie School of the Arts. Kamloops School of the Arts opened in 2016, and the elementary and secondary programs were later brought together at the 9th Avenue location. The school is situated in Kamloops’ City Centre and serves as an arts-focused public education facility for the wider community.
