McArthur Island Park is a major sports and recreation destination on Kamloops’ North Shore, with facilities spread across the island beside the Thompson River. The City park includes a multi-use pathway, bike paths, picnic areas, washrooms, playground, outdoor fitness equipment, tennis courts, lawn bowling, disc golf, mini golf and a boat launch. Its sports grounds include 12 baseball diamonds, nine full-size soccer fields and one mini field, as well as Norbrock Stadium and a soccer fieldhouse.

The park is also home to the Rotary Skateboard Park and the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. The centre provides NHL- and Olympic-sized ice surfaces along with a mini rink, supporting hockey, skating and other ice sports throughout the year. Norbrock Stadium and the surrounding fields make the park an important venue for local leagues, tournaments and community sporting events.

Alongside its extensive athletic facilities, McArthur Island offers a quieter natural setting with a butterfly and xeriscape garden, riverside vegetation and open areas for walking and casual recreation. The multi-use pathway follows the park’s perimeter and provides access to views of the grounds and surrounding river landscape. Water access is available at the boat launch, but swimming is prohibited because of strong currents, unstable banks and other river hazards. Dogs are not permitted within the park.
