Memorial Arena is a City of Kamloops ice arena at 740 Victoria Street in downtown Kamloops. The facility includes an 80-by-190-foot ice surface, dressing rooms, an officials’ room and a public concourse. It also supports dry-floor recreation during the non-ice season. Built in 1948–49 and dedicated on November 11, 1949, the arena was created through community fundraising efforts to honour local soldiers and provide Kamloops with a permanent recreational facility after the Second World War. Its heritage character includes a red-brick entrance pavilion, clerestory windows, exposed structural elements and a bronze dedicatory plaque. The building has played an important role in Kamloops hockey history. It served as a home venue for the Kamloops Chiefs, Kamloops Junior Oilers and Kamloops Blazers during the arena’s years as a Western Hockey League facility.
