First Baptist Church of Kamloops
First Baptist Church of Kamloops is a Baptist Christian congregation located at 454 Columbia Street in downtown Kamloops. The church describes its mission as knowing Jesus Christ and making Him known, with worship, spiritual growth, fellowship, service, missions and evangelism forming the centre of its community life.
The congregation was organized on October 10, 1898, and met at several early Kamloops venues before establishing church buildings on Victoria and Seymour streets. Land at 454 Columbia Street was purchased in the late 1950s, and the congregation held its first services at the site on July 3, 1960. The present church building was formally dedicated on September 22 and 23, 1963.
Today, First Baptist Church offers congregational worship along with children’s and youth ministries, adult small groups, Bible studies and other opportunities for fellowship and service. It continues to serve as a longstanding place of worship and community gathering in central Kamloops.
